Good morning. Let's basketball.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are riding a 15-game winning streak and sit at 23-1 on the season. They have the best net rating of all time right now and have spent much of the season missing this key player or that (including, for a long stretch, their second-best player). Here are some more facts about the Thunder.

  • Their +16 net rating, which is on pace to be the best ever, underrates the team's performance because so often games are blowouts in the fourth quarter. OKC's net rating through three quarters is +20. The '95-96 Bulls have the best net rating on record at +13.4. That team slayed, so it's quite possible they had a huge net rating in quarters 1-3 as well. The Thunder's offense ranks No. 3 through three quarters, by the way.
  • The Thunder need to finish the season 50-8 to tie the Warriors' all-time regular season wins record at 73-9. That seems like a tall task. Except for the fact that the Thunder are 52-6 over their last 58 games. Even excluding this season, the Thunder had a 50-8 stretch between late November and early April last season before some meaningless losses down the home stretch.
  • The Thunder are on a 15-game winning streak. They had a 15-game winning streak last December, too. Since the 2023-24 season, the Thunder have had one 3-game losing streak and 21 separate winning streaks of at least three games. The Thunder have had more 15-game winning streaks than 3-game losing streaks since 2023-24. Since last season, the Thunder have had as many 15-game winning streaks as 2-game losing streaks.
  • If the NBA draft lottery were held today and the results came out chalk, the Thunder would have the No. 5, No. 8 and No. 17 picks.
